We’re in the midst of summer school right now and it’s a lot of fun. I’ve been blessed with the ‘enrichment’ students, all of whom are very excited about learning. Since the students are there by choice, I try and make it worth their while. Because of the smaller numbers and some great help from students teachers who rotate through during the week, we can do a lot of fun projects.
After finishing up some equations work today, one of the student teachers told me about Math-Play.com. One of the games (among many others) has the user solve equations of varying difficulty levels. After completing a certain number, the user gets the opportunity to shoot a basket. It was very cool and a great extension for the lesson. The students really enjoyed it and were challenging each other to get more correct.
