Great tools for any written work

On several blogs lately, I’ve been reading about Wordle. It allows you to make a tag cloud of pretty much any written work. Just paste in the text from a paper or web source and it gives you a visually stunning representation of the most used words in the piece. This is great way of getting a summary of a paper or seeing if a student (or yourself) overused some words. Here is one I did of a paper my wife wrote for a graduate class on teaching the language arts.

Another site that works similarly, though not with as much visual pizazz is Tagcrowd. Tagcrowd gives you a few more options for entering and narrowing down text than wordle and it works a little faster. For instance you can enter your blog address and it will give you a nice tag cloud for it. Here is one for this blog.
